A Family Run Dairy Farm
Pies Farm is very much a family run dairy farm. Nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside within the South Downs National Park. It’s a great place for the younger Wolfes to grow up.
We have a dairy herd of 180 cows and rear all our own calves.
The cattle graze freely on grass fields for 8-9 months of the year and feed on home grown silage in the winter. We grow whole crop barley and maize which is made into the silage as well as grass.
Our main product is milk.
We are Farm Assured, Red Tractor Certified
Which means we have to keep high standards of welfare and hygiene, providing full traceability and record keeping.
We all faced challenging times in 2020. Our milk purchaser sold milk to cafes and eateries, which were for periods closed down. We struggled with no payment then dramatic price drops when finally payments did start to come through. We did not want to give up on our cows. It was at this point we decided to put in a pasteuriser and sell milk direct via a vending machine. We felt this would provide a very useful amenity to the local community.
